The Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne in Chablis is an interactive museum dedicated to the vineyards and wines of northern Burgundy. It occupies the historic Petit Pontigny wine cellar in the centre of Chablis. This centuries-old building combines historic architecture with a contemporary extension and an attractive garden.
The multimedia and sensory visitor trail explains how soils, climate and craftsmanship shape the character of Burgundy’s wines. It focuses on the Chablisien, the Grand Auxerrois – including the Vézelien and Tonnerrois areas – and the Châtillonnais. Along the way, you will learn about work in the vineyard, grape varieties, winemaking techniques and the different aromas found in wine.
Allow at least 45 minutes for the visit. The experience ends with a tasting of a Burgundy wine. Grape juice is available for children and visitors who prefer not to drink alcohol. There is also a special children’s trail, together with workshops, a wine bar and a shop.
