Welcome to ‘la petite maison’! The little cottage on our property in the beautiful Morvan!
The small house is separate from the large house and has its own terrace, so plenty of privacy! The cottage was completely renovated in 2021, with the authentic details preserved or even conjured forward (such as the walls ‘en pierre’). The cottage is 40 m2 and has two floors and can accommodate 2 people.
The entrance is upstairs, there is also the wooden terrace that is all yours. Through the front door you enter the kitchen and living room. Through the narrow and steep stairs you go down, where the bedroom, bathroom and wc is. Both floors have an electric heater at their disposal, upstairs the wood stove is the primary source of heat.
So the small cottage has all the ingredients for a wonderful stay in the Morvan; for four seasons!
There is a mandatory final cleaning. Kitchen, bed and bath linnen are provided and included in the price of the final cleaning.
The entire cottage is non-smoking and non-vaping. A maximum of 2 dogs is allowed. We don’t accept cats.
Please also read our terms and conditions prior to booking for all important information surrounding the use of the accommodation and the arrival of dogs.
The gîte has a 2-star rating and is not accessible to wheelchair users
In the seating area you will find a comfortable two-seater sofa with cushions and blankets, a pouf and coffee table. The living room is equipped with an antique wood stove which you can use when the evenings get a bit cooler and you want to relax with a book. The floor (both top and bottom) are made of concrete, nice and cool in summer. In winter, make sure you have thick socks or slippers.
In the dining area there is a dining table and two comfortable bucket chairs. So nice dining after a day of walking or time for a nice game.
The kitchen is equipped with a two-burner induction hob, oven and fridge with freezer compartment. The most essential things such as coffee, tea, oil, vinegar and herbs are provided. The kitchen is small, but quite fully equipped (in addition to the usual pots and pans, there are oven dishes, toaster, handcitruspers, (rod) mixer, salad centrifuge, grill pan, steam insert, etc). So you can easily be the chef here and prepare those delicious meals with fantastic local products, perhaps even from the own vegetable garden. Since everything is connected to a so-called fosse-tout-eau, you can’t just use all types of cleaning products. That’s why we have the right resources. Kitchen towels, tea towels and wipes are also provided.
Downstairs you will find the bedroom. Due to its location against the hill and the thick walls, it is wonderfully cool in summer. You will find a double bed (160×200 cm) with lits-jumeaux duvet and 2 pillows. Of course the bed is nicely made, so that your holiday can start immediately! In the closet there is an extra blanket and two extra pillows. Here you will also find the vacuum cleaner (if you want to use it) and there is room to put down your clothes. At the stairs there are hooks and hangers. You reach the ground floor via a narrow and steep staircase (not suitable for the disabled or people with mobility problems).
Downstairs you will find the toilet, shower and sink adjacent to the bedroom. Since everything is connected to a so-called fosse-tout-eau, you can’t just use all types of toilet paper. That is why there is enough toilet paper available for your stay. There are large and small towels waiting for you.
Welcome to the French countryside. There is range with your mobile phone at our house, but at the moment no 5G coverage. Of course there is internet and wifi available (fast fibre internet) in the cottage and on the terrace of the small house.
In front of the front door you have a private terrace at your disposal that borders our ‘pasture’ and the vegetable garden and orchard. In June you can already pick delicious cherries and in September and October you can pick apples for a delicious apple pie (springform is in the kitchen of course).
On the terrace there is a table, two chairs and a comfortable lounge set. The cushions for this and the parasol can be found in the box, which is also on the terrace. The terrace is illuminated for the evenings with two outdoor lamps. To complete the party there is also a bbq.
Your dog is also very welcome in ‘la petite maison’. Given the size of the house we accept a maximum of 2 dogs. We charge 20 euros per stay for the arrival of dogs. In the cottage, dogs are not allowed in the bedroom and on the sofa and chairs. The garden of ‘la petite maison’ has been fenced off with wire mesh, rebar and wood fences with a height of about 80-100 cm. The dog is allowed to roam freely in the garden, but it is obviously not allowed to poop in the garden. Good to know: in the enclosed part of the garden is also a chicken run and the vegetable garden. The dog is not welcome there.
In almost all areas where we walk our 2 dogs, dogs are allowed to walk without a leash. There is a lot of wildlife though, so only do this if you have your dog well under control. Dogs are often welcome in restaurants and pubs. Of course, always check beforehand. If you would like to go out for a day without your dog, it is, in consultation, possible to walk the dog (paid service). Last but not least: make sure your dog has the right vaccinations when you visit France from abroad (rabies).
If you arrive in an electric car, we offer the option of charging it on site during off-peak hours (from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.). We have a type 2 charger that can charge your car at a maximum of 3.7 kW per hour (230V-16A). The charger starts automatically when off-peak hours begin and stops automatically when they end. We record the number of kWh and charge you at the end of your stay. See our rates page for the price.
