La Petite Maison
Welcome to ‘la petite maison’! The little cottage on our property in the beautiful Morvan!
The small house is separate from the large house and has its own terrace, so plenty of privacy! The cottage was completely renovated in 2021, with the authentic details preserved or even conjured forward (such as the walls ‘en pierre’). The cottage is 40 m2 and has two floors and can accommodate 2 people.
The entrance is upstairs, there is also the wooden terrace that is all yours. Through the front door you enter the kitchen and living room. Through the narrow and steep stairs you go down, where the bedroom, bathroom and wc is. Both floors have an electric heater at their disposal, upstairs the wood stove is the primary source of heat.
The small cottage has all the ingredients for a wonderful stay in the Morvan; for four seasons!
There is a mandatory final cleaning. Kitchen, bed and bath linnen are provided and included in the price of the final cleaning.
The entire cottage is non-smoking and non-vaping. A maximum of 2 dogs is allowed. We don’t accept cats.

The gîte has a 2-star rating and is not accessible to wheelchair users
Living room and kitchen
You enter directly into the kitchen and living room through the front door.
In the sitting area you will find a comfortable two-seater sofa with cushions and blankets, a footstool and a coffee table. The room has a wood-burning stove, which is the main source of heating. It is perfect for those cooler evenings when you want to curl up with a good book. The floors, both upstairs and downstairs, are made of concrete, which helps keep the cottage pleasantly cool in summer. In winter, make sure to bring warm socks or slippers. The room also has an electric heater.
The dining area has a dining table and two comfortable bucket chairs. Perfect for enjoying a good meal after a day of walking or for playing a game together.
The kitchen is equipped with a two-ring induction hob, oven and refrigerator with a small freezer compartment. Basic essentials such as coffee, tea, oil, vinegar and herbs and spices are provided. The kitchen is small, but very well equipped. In addition to the usual pots and pans, you will find oven dishes, a toaster, a manual citrus press, a blender and hand blender, a salad spinner, grill pan and steamer insert. So there is everything you need to play chef and prepare delicious meals with fantastic local produce, perhaps even with vegetables from our own kitchen garden. Kitchen towels, tea towels and cleaning cloths are provided and included in the price.
Bedroom and bathroom
Via the narrow and steep staircase you go downstairs, where you will find the bedroom, bathroom and toilet.
Thanks to its position against the hillside and the thick walls, this part of the cottage stays wonderfully cool in summer. The bedroom has a double bed measuring 160 × 200 cm, with a double duvet and two pillows. Of course, the bed will be made up ready for your arrival, so your holiday can start straight away! In the wardrobe you will also find an extra blanket and two additional pillows. The vacuum cleaner is stored here as well, should you wish to use it, and there is space to store your clothes.
Downstairs you will also find the toilet, walk-in shower and washbasin directly adjoining the bedroom. Large and small towels are provided, as well as shower gel and shampoo.
The downstairs area is heated by an electric heater.
Terrace
In front of the entrance, you have your own private terrace overlooking our meadow, vegetable garden and orchard. In June, you can already pick delicious cherries, and in September and October you can pick apples to make a wonderful apple pie. Naturally, there is a cake tin in the kitchen.
The terrace has a table, two chairs and a comfortable outdoor lounge set. The cushions and parasol are stored in the box on the terrace. In the evenings, the terrace is lit by two outdoor lights.
In the garden, you will also find a bench and a picnic table where you can enjoy the evening sun. And to complete the experience, a barbecue is also available.
Wastewater
As everything is connected to a septic system, not all cleaning products can be used. We therefore provide suitable products for you to use. Hand soap, washing-up liquid, toilet cleaner and similar products are all provided. We also use special toilet paper (pink), and there is always plenty available.
Wi-Fi
Welcome to the French countryside! Mobile phone reception is available around our house, although there is currently no 5G coverage. Internet and Wi-Fi are, of course, available inside La Petite Maison and on its terrace, with a fast fibre-optic connection.
Electric vehicle charging
If you are arriving with an electric car, you can charge it on site in our private parking area during off-peak hours (from 10 pm to 6 am). We have a Type 2 charger with a maximum charging power of 3.7 kW (230 V – 16 A). Charging starts automatically when the off-peak period begins and stops automatically afterwards. We record the number of kWh used and charge this at the end of your stay. Please see our rates page for the current rate.
Your dog is also very welcome at “La Petite Maison”. Because of the size of the cottage, we accept a maximum of 2 dogs. We charge a fee per stay for dogs (see our rates overview). Inside the cottage, dogs are not allowed in the bedroom or on the sofa or chairs.
The garden of “La Petite Maison” is enclosed with wire fencing, metal fencing panels and wooden gates approximately 80–100 cm high. Your dog is free to move around the garden, but of course it should not foul in the garden. Good to know: the enclosed part of the garden also contains a chicken run and the vegetable garden. Dogs are not allowed in these areas.
In almost all the areas where we walk with our 2 dogs, dogs are allowed off lead. There is, however, plenty of wildlife, so only do this if you have your dog fully under control. Dogs are often welcome in restaurants and pubs, but it is always best to check beforehand.
If you would like to go out for the day without your dog, we can, by prior arrangement, take your dog out for a walk for you (paid service).
Last but not least: if you are travelling to France from abroad, make sure your dog has all the required vaccinations, including rabies.

Staying in the Morvan, in the little house.
We really enjoyed our time here. The hosts are very welcoming and gave us lots of tips for day trips. The terrace and garden offer a fantastic view and are the perfect place to relax and unwind. We’d love to come back and would highly recommend it.
Very good stay in Karlijn's small house in Saint Léger Vauban. The region is very pleasant in summer, for hiking and walking in the forest or towards the lake of Saint Agnan. The house is comfortable with a large outdoor terrace in the middle of the garden.
A total change of scenery for a weekend with our 11-month-old baby, in the heart of a green garden. However, the staircase is not safe even for an adult.
