Gite le Tilleul
A spacious holiday home in the beautiful Morvan!
The house is located in a small hamlet belonging to the commune of Marigny-l’Église (58140). It has a large garden and no immediate neighbours, offering plenty of peace and privacy. We received the keys to the house on 12 August 2025 and completely renovated it. Naturally, we made sure to preserve its authentic character. Beautiful wooden beams remain visible on the ceilings, and several of the original stone walls have been carefully preserved. The house offers 100 m² of living space and everything is on the ground floor.

End-of-stay cleaning is mandatory. Kitchen linen, bed linen and towels are provided and included in the end-of-stay cleaning fee.
The entire house is smoke-free and vape-free. The gîte is suitable for up to 5 people, plus a baby if required. A baby cot can be provided on request.
A maximum of 3 dogs are allowed. We do not accept cats. Before making a reservation, please also read our terms and conditionsterms and conditions for all important information regarding the use of the accommodation and bringing dogs.
living room
The front door opens directly into the living room. Here you will find a comfortable seating area with a three-seater sofa, an armchair, a pouffe and several small coffee tables. There is also a large dining table with 6 chairs, along with games and information about the local area. The living room is also equipped with a TV and Chromecast, should you fancy spending an evening streaming your favourite series or film.
The living room has a wood-burning stove for cooler evenings when you want to curl up with a good book. The wood-burning stove is the main source of heating in the house, so firewood is included in the rental price. The floors throughout the house are tiled, which helps keep it pleasantly cool in summer. In spring and autumn, we recommend bringing warm socks or slippers.
kitchen
The kitchen is directly connected to the living room. A large opening in the wall means you can stay in touch with everyone in the living room while you are cooking. And there is plenty of opportunity to cook: the kitchen has a 3-zone induction hob, extractor hood, oven, microwave and fridge with freezer compartment. Basic essentials such as coffee, tea, oil, vinegar and herbs and spices are provided. The kitchen is very well equipped. In addition to the usual pots and pans, you will find oven dishes, a toaster, citrus press, blender and hand blender, salad spinner, grill pan, steamer insert and more. There is, of course, a kettle, as well as a Nespresso machine and a filter coffee maker; filters and ground coffee are provided. The kitchen also has a small table with two stools. Kitchen towels, tea towels and cleaning cloths are provided. There is also a washing machine in the kitchen.
bedroom 1
This bedroom of approximately 16 m² is reached via a small hallway behind the kitchen. Thanks to the thick walls and its location on the ground floor, the room stays wonderfully cool in summer. It has a double bed measuring 160 × 200 cm, with a large 240 × 200 cm duvet and 2 pillows. Naturally, the bed will be made up ready for your arrival, so your holiday can begin straight away! Two shelves and a clothes rail are available for storing your clothes. The bedroom has electric heating.
Extra blankets and pillows can be found in the hallway cupboard. This is also where you will find the vacuum cleaner, should you wish to use it, as well as other cleaning supplies.
bedroom 2
The other door in the small hallway leads to the second bedroom, which is approximately 24 m². Here you will find two single beds measuring 90 × 200 cm. These can be joined together to create a spacious double bed with a mattress topper; you can indicate your preference when making your reservation. The beds have individual duvets. There is also a third single bed in this room. Shelves and a clothes rail are available here as well for storing your clothes. The bedroom has electric heating.
bathroom and toilet
The bathroom is reached from the kitchen via a small step and has a spacious walk-in shower and washbasin. Large and small towels will be ready for you on arrival. Shower gel and shampoo are provided, as well as a hairdryer. There is a small unit for toiletries and hooks for hanging towels and/or clothing. The bathroom is equipped with an electric heated towel rail.
Next to the bathroom is a separate toilet with a small hand basin.
veranda and garden
The back door opens onto the covered veranda and wooden terrace. The fully enclosed garden (minimum fence height 100 cm) is reached via a small step and is mainly laid to lawn. Thanks to the trees in the garden, there is also plenty of shade during the summer. Outdoor furniture with a table and chairs is provided, as well as 2 sun loungers, several armchairs and a picnic table with barbecue. You will also find a variety of fresh herbs in the garden, which you are welcome to pick and use.
waste water
As the entire house is connected to a septic system, not all types of cleaning products can be used. We therefore provide suitable products, such as washing-up liquid, dishwasher tablets and laundry detergent. Special toilet paper is also used (the pink variety), and plenty is provided.
wifi
Welcome to the French countryside! Mobile phone coverage is available, although there is currently no 5G coverage. The house does, of course, have fibre-optic internet and wifi, which is available inside the gîte, on the veranda and in the garden.
electric vehicle charging
If you are travelling with an electric car, you can charge it on site during off-peak hours (from 10 pm to 7 am). We have a Type 2 charger that can charge your car at up to 3.7 kW (230 V – 16 A). The charger starts automatically when the off-peak period begins and switches off again automatically. We record the number of kWh used and settle the charging costs at the end of your stay using the security deposit already paid. Please see our rates page for the applicable rate.
The gîte is not wheelchair accessible.
Your dog is very welcome at Gîte “Le Tilleul” too. We accept a maximum of 3 dogs. We charge a contribution per stay for dogs (see our rates overview).
Inside the house, dogs are not allowed in the bedrooms or on the sofa and chairs. The garden is enclosed with wire fencing, two walls and a metal gate. The minimum fence height is approximately 100 cm.
Your dog is free to roam around the garden, but the garden is not intended as a dog toilet area. We therefore ask our guests to take their dogs outside the property to relieve themselves.
In almost all the areas where we walk with our 2 dogs, dogs are allowed off the lead. There is, however, plenty of wildlife in the area, so only do this if you have your dog well under control and can reliably call them back.
Dogs are often welcome in restaurants and cafés. Please always check beforehand, of course.
Last but not least, if you are travelling to France from abroad with your dog, make sure your dog has the required vaccinations, including rabies.

What a lovely place and great thought has been put into the layout and amenities in the house. Here there is peace and space and everything is clean, fresh and new. And an enclosed garden for your dog. All supermarkets, villages, towns are only about 30 minutes away. The garden is so lovely with the picnic bench under the apple tree. Here you come to rest and see the most beautiful starry skies. Thank you Jeroen and Karlijn!
We had a wonderful week at Gite le Tilleul. We enjoyed lovely walks in the beautiful green surroundings and charming old, quiet villages, and occasionally swam in a small lake. But the house itself was also so pleasant that we spent many mornings and evenings comfortably at home. The garden is delightful with a beautiful view, and the spot on the veranda was truly lovely too. We spent many hours there, eating quietly, reading, or playing a game. The cottage is very tastefully decorated, a feast for the eyes. It is also clean and fully equipped in terms of appliances and cooking and eating utensils. We rarely return, but perhaps we will do so this time. The contact with the owners was also very pleasant. We even received some nice tips for beautiful walks or other activities. In short: we enjoyed ourselves, and the house is highly recommended!
Very clean, the accommodation is brand new with everything you need and even more than other Airbnbs. The host is very kind and responsive, I recommend!
