About this place
The restaurant at Moulin des Ruats occupies a former watermill in the green Cousin Valley, just outside Avallon. Its kitchen focuses on fresh seasonal ingredients, sourced from local producers whenever possible. The dishes are carefully prepared and beautifully presented, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal here.
The setting is one of the restaurant’s greatest attractions. Both the dining room and the grounds overlook the forest, the river and the mill’s old waterwheel. In fine weather, guests can dine on the atmospheric shaded terrace directly beside the Cousin. The flowing water and surrounding trees make this an especially pleasant place to eat during hot summer days.
The restaurant serves lunch on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Dinner is available every evening except Wednesday. Guests who are not staying at the hotel are also welcome, but booking is required. Check the current menu and opening times before visiting.
