About this place

La Cité des Présents – François Mitterrand in Château-Chinon brings together two completely renovated museums: the Museum of Presidential Gifts and the Fashion Museum. The first displays a selection from more than 4,500 gifts received by François Mitterrand during his two presidential terms. Works of art, handcrafted pieces and unusual objects from five continents tell stories of diplomacy, international relations and the protocol surrounding the French presidency. The Fashion Museum focuses on fashion, craftsmanship and elegance. Together, the two collections offer a surprising journey through French history and culture, presented across almost 2,000 m² of modern exhibition space.
